Our 11 standards for fair labor

These are the standards we review with suppliers.

  1. 1.

    Business is conducted lawfully and with integrity

    All Colombian laws and regulations are complied with, along with applicable international laws — including those covering international trade, data protection, and anti-trust/competition.

    Employees are given the means to raise concerns about any of the standards, and anyone who speaks out about an issue is protected from retaliation.

  2. 2.

    Work is conducted on the basis of freely agreed and documented terms of employment

    Policies are adopted and adhered to that respect workers — permanent and casual — and, at a minimum, safeguard their rights under their employment contract and national labor laws.

  3. 3.

    All workers are treated equally and with respect and dignity

    No worker is subject to physical, sexual, psychological, or verbal harassment, abuse, or intimidation. There is no discrimination in hiring, compensation, advancement, discipline, termination, or retirement, and particular attention is paid to the workers most vulnerable to it.

  4. 4.

    Work is conducted on a voluntary basis

    Forced labor of any kind is prohibited. Mental and physical coercion, slavery, and human trafficking are prohibited.

  5. 5.

    All workers are of an appropriate age

    No supplier employs workers under 15 — the minimum age in Colombia. Workers under 18 must have the required permissions and must not do work that is dangerous or that interferes with their schooling.

  6. 6.

    All workers are paid fair wages

    Workers receive a total compensation package — wages, overtime pay, health insurance, pension, benefits, and paid leave — that meets or exceeds legal minimums or prevailing industry standards, whichever is higher.

  7. 7.

    Working hours for all workers are reasonable

    Workers are not required to work more than the regular and overtime hours allowed by law, and all overtime is voluntary.

  8. 8.

    Workers are free to join, or refrain from joining, trade unions and to bargain collectively

    The rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining are recognized and respected. Workers are not intimidated or harassed for exercising them.

  9. 9.

    Workers' health and safety are protected at work

    A healthy and safe workplace is provided to prevent accidents and injury arising from work or the employer's operations.

  10. 10.

    Workers have access to fair procedures and remedies

    Workers are provided with transparent, fair, and confidential procedures that resolve any difficulties in their working relationship swiftly and impartially.

  11. 11.

    Workers are allowed to take maternity leave

    Workers are given the full 18 weeks of paid leave, as per Colombian law, when caring for a new-born child.
